Bye, Phylicia!

“Forget these women.” Those are the words from Black America’s favorite mother Claire Huxtable bka Phylicia Rashad. The women that she is forgetting are those that have accused Bill Cosby of rape, date rape, and sexual assault. Roger Friedman caught up with the Tony winner at lunch for the movie “Selma” held by Paramount. Phylicia also said, “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”

Let’s discuss this last part of her quote…so you’re telling me that if you leave/create a legacy that that will outweigh the fact that you were putting roofies in pudding pops and finger popping pussies without permission? Tuh! Bye, Phylicia. I do stand with the women on this, you should never shame a victim and also well it’s fuck Bill Cosby with all of my heart and soul. We all know why I hate Cliff Huxtable and if you don’t know then it’s due to him going on his rant years ago shaming the black community on the world stage.

Claire Huxtable also said, “This show represented America to the outside world. This was the American family. And now you’re seeing it being destroyed. Why?” Let me tell you why Claire Huxtable attorney at law, it’s because of the internets. That Hannibal Burress comedy routine went viral, twitter exploded and so did the blogs. The internet went nuts and women came out of the woods with their Cosby touched my private parts via laced pudding pops stories and got P.A.I.D. Could there be somebody behind the scenes playing puppet master? Absolutely. Does the black community give two fucks about Cosby…can’t divide our fucks by zero…you get nada.

I honestly feel that Phylicia should’ve went the route of Keisha Knight-Pulliam and kept to herself, but Phylicia could be feeling the impact from the syndication being pulled. Those royalty checks are nice once a show gets picked up for syndication. I mean she did tell Roger Friedman from Showbiz 411, “Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV…and it’s worked. All his contracts have been cancelled.” Tuh, Bye, Phylicia.

Shoutout Roger Friedman from Showbiz 411 for getting the scoop  and the Twitterverse for throwing a fit.

Let Me Speak To Your Manager

Hopefully, everyone had a great time bringing in the New Year. I had a great time partying it up at the HardRock Casino, gambling and catching a dueling piano(s)(???) show. I wish everyone the best in 2015, let’s make it all about you and your goals. Now let’s get it on with today’s blog…C.W.A.’s cashiers with attitudes. Fix it Jesus. I have just been having some bad luck with customer service lately so that’s what inspired me to tap these keys on my lap top.

So yesterday after work I went to the Kwik Shop to get some gas and use my fuel points. If you don’t know what fuel points are, let me explain: fuel points are for every dollar you spend at a Krogers/Baker’s supermarket you earn a fuel point and for every 100 fuel points you earn, it’s .10 cents off per gallon of gas. Now I racked up 550 points for the month of December and they don’t expire until January 31st…so I’m thinking that I am about to stunt on this $1.99/gal gas and get it for $1.49/gal…nope! This lady told me that I only had 2 cents off per gallon. What?! I’m like, “um… my fuel point balance is 500 and some odd points.” “it says you only have 2 cents off per gallon.” “oh, really? Let me speak to a supervisor.” “Sir, I am a supervisor.” “your name tag doesn’t state that, but I’m gonna let you cook.” I emailed corporate about the situation and I am waiting for a reply.

I went to Crackdonalds down by the Henry Doorly Zoo to get some dinner for me and my lady. I ordered a club house burger with an extra meat patty and a caramel sundae. Lady repeats my order back to me and it’s reflected on the screen. I pay and pull up to the second window. Jesus on the cross leaving Earth…why did the lil chubby boriqua hand me a sundae that wasn’t even half way full. Soon as she handed it over to me, I was like, “Are you serious?” “What’s wrong?” “You don’t see what’s wrong with this sundae?” “no.” “So you telling me that there is nothing wrong with giving me a dollop of ice cream?” “uhhhhhhh no.” “Take this back and fill it up.” So after Jenny from the block gives me my sundae and food, I pull over to check the order. These sons of female dogs in heat done gave me a sandwich with no meat on it! I am 6’1 290lbs, duh hell I look like eating a bun with lettuce and cheese?! And they didn’t fill my fries up…gave me a small fry for the price of a medium. I go in there and the whole restaurant is backed up, I’m to the point where I just leave but my girl had to remind me of who I am… and I don’t play about my $$$, if I am paying for a service I deserve what I am paying for nothing less. So I go back in there and the manager is a brotha and he is just overwhelmed. I let him know the situation and he apologized and Rosie Perez just shot me the dirtiest look. If looks could kill, I wouldn’t be here today to give my testimony. Amen. He fixed the situation ASAP. Salute to that brotha.

Dear Cashiers, what if I told you that those fuel points that I’m using is not coming out of your pocket? And what if I told you that doing your job would make your shift much more pleasurable? Stop acting like you’re the CFO of your cash register. I don’t need to hear a huge sigh when I tell you that I have coupons. What I need for you to do is to leave your problems at the time clock soon as you punch in. I have worked customer service well over a decade(13yrs) and I know it sucks at time, but don’t make it harder by acting like that .55 cents off Brawny paper towels is breaking that dollar bill in your wallet/pocketbook. You won’t get promoted to assistant team leader shift supervisor manager with that attitude, Tammy. And if you do… is your soul worth that .37 cents extra per hour? Now you gotta deal with difficult customers cause all of the cashiers want your .37cents so they’re refusing to accept coupons because they feel that they are the CFO’s of their cash register…do you want that kind of headache, Tammy? And what if I told you that if you did it right the first time you wouldn’t have to hear the phrase, “Let me speak to your manager.”

Uncle Sam and Aunt Pam

Paying Uncle Sam is a bitch, especially when you work overtime and you get taxed at a higher rate. There is nothing worse than racking up 20-30 hours of overtime only to see about 7 hours of overtime pay on your check. But a lot of us have to pay Aunt Pam and that keeps you in a financial rut, that keeps the cycle of poverty going. Who is Aunt Pam? Aunt Pam aka The Black Tax. That is when your paycheck is going towards your family to keep them from drowning.

A lot of us have paid or are continuing to pay Aunt Pam. When you’re in college or fresh from graduating you are supposed to be working on building your foundation. A lot of college graduates move back home (rent free) to find a new job and save $$$ to buy their first home or get a place to stay. That’s not the case with us that are subject to paying the Black Tax. A lot of times we are holding down our parent’s household while trying to build for ourselves. Paying rent, utilities, buying groceries, and buying school clothes/supplies for our younger siblings. It’s frustrating that when you’re the only one working the whole household gets paid too…without doing the work.

There is always that family guilt that’s put on you, about how family is everything and how much your parent(s) sacrificed for you to get this far. When the truth is they feel as if you owe them for having you. It’s like reverse parenting, the former head of household falls back, stops working, and expect you to make the household thrive off of $9/hr. At this point you love your parents, but it’s hard to respect them, when they play you like that. You turn in to a parent without having in any kids, so to speak.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with helping your folks out when they are struggling. Paying a light bill here, buying groceries there, but it gets tough when the able bodied become disabled due to the child working. The sacrifices made excuse is pure bullshit…most of our folks were out partying and bullshitting in their 20’s and early 30’s. So don’t feed us that bullshit. This is partly how the cycle of poverty keeps going. You’re working to hold down two households when in fact if it was just one household, You could invest the rest of your money in to something that would make you even more money…like the S&P 500.

I didn’t want to write this blog due to some folks being offended, but coming in to the New Year a lot folks need to stop the bullshit and stop putting up with bullshit. And if you’re a parent that’s living off of your child…make the sacrifice and get a job. Let your young adult be a young adult. Don’t take their lives from them, let them build their own.

We Need A Resolution

So 2015 is approaching and fast. You will see a bunch of New Year, New Me posts via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and SnapChat. And you’re first thought is, “yeah right, this person is going to be the same a**hole that they were at 11:59 pm 12/31/14.” And that’s you’re first mistake. Don’t worry about others with their New Years’ goals, worry about ya damn self and how you will make 2015, your best year ever. And now you’re asking, “Well, A.B. how do you do that? Since you have all the answers…apparently.” Keep reading, I got you.

The first thing you want to do in 2015 is to stop wasting your damn time! Time is something that you cannot get back and stop wasting it by sitting in front of the TV, videogames, YouTube rabbit holes, etc. Do not waste your time on things that are not important to you and that are not helping you reach your goals. Learn to live in the present.

Next what you want to focus on is getting a healthy workout routine. I know people would rather sit down and stuff their face with so much buttery, delicious foods, but you gotta get your mind and body right. Start the day off with some meditation. It will get you mentally prepared for the day and cleanse your soul. Once you’re done meditating you should feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders. We all know that the gym will be packed for the first few weeks of January and maybe even February, but don’t let the over crowdedness overwhelm you. Get in that gym and get it in. I would recommend you getting a gym membership to somewhere that’s open 24hrs a day.

So now you have a healthy workout routine and you decided to stop wasting your time…now what? You get rid of the pollutants and by pollutants, I mean people. So many of us have toxic people in our lives that either kill our positive energy or drag us back to where we were. And you don’t need that in your life, at all. It will be hard to cut those people off, especially if they are close friends and family. But what we fail to remember is that this is OUR life. And you have to be selfish at times to deliver your gift to the world. Some will understand and some will hate you for it, but those that hate you for it will either start making changes themselves in a positive direction or find someone else to leach on to and bring them down. Take your life back.

That will be the toughest thing that you do this year, but now it’s time to step outside of your comfort zone. You have dreams and goals that you would like to accomplish. And make 2015 that year to do that! You and I know the old saying, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you always got.” Step out of the norm and embrace the uncomfortable. Welcome it with open arms, get used to having your heart in your throat beating at 200bpm, and remember you deserve success, no self-shaming.

The meditation will help you get rid of your limiting beliefs. Everything we use in society has been created by people just like you, so don’t let the stats of New Year’s Resolutions kept get to you. The mind is very powerful, so feed it with positivity. Stop wasting your time on frivolous bullshit and toxic people. Once you master those two, you will have more time and energy to hit the gym. You get your workout routine down and your confidence will build, because you’re sticking to a routine and you are looking damn good! Now take that newfound confidence and become uncomfortable. And remember: You can’t cheat the grind, the results will show.
